Movies that i recommend

These are just some movies that I like and recommend:

First one is Inception (2010), a pretty famous Christopher Nolan’s film, it’s science fiction but not the classic super-violent type but more on the criminal and deep undestanding side. I enjoyed the whole photography and aesthetic direction, which made looking at the image per se very nice, but the plot is also very intriguing even tho for me it was kinda hard, that’s why I watched it like 3 times before I felt like a understood what it was about.

Second; ParaNorman (2012), a ‘zombie’ comedy with a lot of other elements of the terror genre (witchcraft, ghosts, etc). I like It even tho it’s supposed to be a film for kids, that’s mostly because of its humor and the characters make it interesting for everyone.  Also “It is the first stop-motion film to use a 3D color printer to create character faces and only the second to be shot in 3D”, that makes it interesting given the fact that stop motion it’s already something that really blows my mind.

And lastly Moonlight (2016), I really really love this movie!! It’s a film based on semi-autobiographical play In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue, it is now classified as a LGBT film and it’s the first with an all-black cast. What I like about it is the whole identity conflict and that it shows new realities in a white dominant industry.


And a bonus recommendation It’s The Basketball diaries featuring Leonardo DiCaprio (when he was very young), it shows the problems about living teenage years on the streets of New York.

    Moonlight is a excellent movie! I liked the relationship that was established between the little Chiron and Juan (and his girlfriend) :)

    I watched Moonlight at the cinema, it's such a good movie, I recommend it.

Summer plans

This year has been so hectic that the summer plans haven’t even crossed my mind (if anything I have been thinking about how I’ll be able to sleep as much as I want to). I think that I will most likely be working this summer and saving up money, I don’t know where but I have been sending curriculum/resumé to different retail places that I feel comfortable working in. But I do wish I have some time to relax and maybe even travel somewhere, even if it’s just for a few days, which probably will be a beach near by, last summer I went to Papudo with my cousin, I think I could repeat that because I had a great time there, also hopefully I can make a quick trip with some friends, some of them my best friends from high school, since we’ve wanted to do that for a long long time but it hasn’t worked out. Getting out of Santiago with my family would be nice too, since we haven’t done that in a few years. But even if the trips aren’t possible for whatever reasons I hope I have time for my...

Postgraduate studies

At the moment I’m studying physical anthropology but I also want to get a degree in sociocultural anthropology on this university, that’s a plan that I have but I’m not entirely sure about it. In the “my future post” I said that I wanted to work with alive populations instead of just the osteology part of my discipline, which is the most classic area, especially for the Universidad de Chile graduates. One of the things that really call my attention is medical anthropology and especially the debate around obstetrical violence, which is a field that’s connecting both social and biological anthropology. English language challenges

  In my last post i’m going to talk about my experience with English. I’ll start with one of the challenges of this course which is weekly writing in a foreign language like english is to me. Thankfully it wasn’t really that difficult personally, but that is because I tend to write in English and sometimes help translate some stuff for my friends so I already had some training, but I do have to say that sometimes it took more time that I wanted, that’s my fault anyway I tend to want to correct things many times and I’m never completely content with it. The part about interacting with my classmates was something that I really liked, I genuinely enjoyed reading their entries and leaving comments, I also like reading the ones you all left me. Apart from this activity in particular the reasons I have improved my English have to do with me reading stuff in English (mostly literature, because reading academic papers it’s always a very hard and tedious task, hasn’t helped me at a...
